Preschool and Pre-K

The activities we plan for the children, the way we organize the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule, and talk with the children are all designed to accomplish the goals of the curriculum and give your child a successful start in school. We help the children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We are teaching them how to learn, not just now, but all through their lives.

Teacher/Child Interaction.The teachers are available to children for comfort, support, guidance, and assistance. A balanced instructional program is provided that includes attention to all developmental and curriculum areas. The children are provided opportunities to play and work in solitary play, in pairs, and in small groups for focused instruction and collaboration with other children, as well as in groups of their own choosing, and within the whole classroom grouping. We provide an intellectually engaging and challenging curriculum that expands the children’s knowledge of the world. Instructional strategies are adapted to meet the needs of all the children. Materials are organized into centers where children know where to find them and where to put them away. We keep a consistent schedule so children know what is expected of them. We maintain firm consistent limits to make sure the expectations for the children remain the same and the children know the rules.
Daily Report.There is a dry erase board in the classroom with daily information about your child’s nap time and what he/she ate. You will take home a journal each week with more information about what your child has been experiencing while at the center.

Pre-K. The curriculum is more challenging in the Pre-K than in the preschool. The Pre-K is focused on getting the children ready academically and socially for elementary school. The children are in the Pre-K classroom from September to September the year before they start Kindergarten.
